Egg Hunt in May

Egg Hunt in May

Yep…you read right. Easter came and went and it was still snowing in Spokane at that time. Covid-19 pandemic was on the rise and everyone stayed home and social distancing. We missed our kids and grandsons. Our 3 year old Kiel didn’t understand why we don’t go into his house when we dropped things off. He didn’t understand why we weren’t hugging him, why grandpa didn’t catch him jumping off the rock. In early May we collectively agree as a family to reunite since all of us stay home and social distance anyway. This is how we decide to have egg hunt in May especially since the weather is so good now.

Stayover

Kiel and Aaron have a stayover with us the day before and Kasandra gave me a bag of plastic eggs. We also have our own from last year’s stash so we are having a lot of eggs for Kiel to hunt. I’ve added some Hersey’s chocolate kisses and this year we are also adding some ‘monies’ (Kiel calls coins ‘monies’) inside the plastic eggs. Telling Kiel we are going to have egg hunt and to behave make stayover really peaceful! He plays in the garden under our watchful eyes while Aaron chews happily on a teething biscuit.

Egg Hunt Excitement

We love the look on Kiel’s face when he wakes up and asks, “Is it egg hunt day yet?” Egg hunt excitement is building up as grandpa says he thinks the bunnies are coming to the garden and hiding the eggs. But we still have to wait for mommy and daddy to come. Boy! Kiel is the most well behaved boy today! LOL Finally everyone is here and mommy even brings a bunny ears headband, two baskets and a bunny stuffed toy! The hunt begins…. Kiel is more aware of where to look for eggs this year and he is everywhere in the garden. He even helps Aaron open some eggs. What a thrill to find “so many monies” and candies. Luckily Kiel is more interested in opening the eggs than he is with candies. I must say we have a fun egg hunting in May.
