Wedding at Hoh Rainforest

Wedding at Hoh Rainforest

Imagine a wedding at Hoh Rainforest in the Olympic Peninsula! Dreamy, one of a kind with a great sense of adventure to remember this special day by. Ryan loves this place ever since Shane brought him and his friends there on a college spring break. Then he introduced Kasandra to this place and they have been going back there regularly. It was not a surprise when this young couple told us of their wedding venue.

Forks, Washington

We entered Hoh Rainforest via Forks, Washington entrance. It is located in the heart of the Olympic Peninsula, between the Olympic mountains and the Pacific Ocean beaches. Forks is the rainiest town in the contiguous United States with an average rainfall of 140″ annually! Luckily for us the weather was perfect on the wedding day. Interestingly, Stephenie Meyer chose Fork, Washington as the primary setting for her Twilight series. Hoh Rainforest has an allure that draws visitors into it’s enchantment. Mosses and ferns cover all surfaces of trees and grounds creating a magical dimension. It’s quite eerie, quiet and beautiful at the same time.

Finding the Right Wedding Spot

We were all geared up for a long track into the rainforest. Ryan and Kasandra planned to take their vows with the waterfall as their backdrop. Unfortunately, the track was too long and tedious so we started finding a suitable wedding spot nearby. We found a great area – a tree that branches low with mosses hanging on them. Kasandra and Ryan changed into their wedding gown and suit. She also used some mosses to decorate her hair bun. It was natural and simply perfect. Kasandra’s mom officiated the wedding while I acted as the photographer. Kiel, their son happily played with dirt oblivious to this special occasion. It was a simple no stress wedding, exactly how the couple had wanted it.

River in the Hoh Rainforest
After the wedding, we hiked to the river running along the Hoh Rainforest.
