Japanese Food Frenzy

Japanese Food Frenzy

We Love Japanese Food

Shane and I share one common favorite food – We love Japanese food! Our favorite Japanese restaurant in Spokane is the Suki Yaki Inn on the North Bernard Street but dining there could get pricey. We arrived in Malaysia two days ago and after feasting on roti canai (paratha, a sort of flatbread) and chicken rice, we are heading to One Utama, AEON BiG Supermarket to get some grocery and Japanese sushi.

1 Utama Shopping Centre

I used to walk over to 1 Utama Shopping Centre when I was living in Bandar Utama. This big mall has everything you need under one roof; restaurants, groceries stores, shops, hobbies & activities, health & wellness centers…the list goes on. If you’re a visitor, 1 Utama is the best place for shopping and dining. There are international brands and local artists for clothing; franchised restaurants and local street food dining and you can take a break and relax in Rainforest 1 Utama, a unique natural space that features lush foliage, koi ponds and even a suspension bridge! Have I mentioned there is even a hotel attached to the mall? There is one! I’ll talk about it some day.

AEON BiG

AEON BiG at 1 Utama comprises of the grocery and food court on the ground floor and departmental stores on the levels up. We are going to get some groceries and have lunch at the Arena Food Court.

We have a big surprise as soon as we enter AEON BiG. The ground floor and food court has been renovated while we were gone and in place is a big, clean and sleek look filled with Japanese goodies! Well, there are other food choices but our eyes are trained to the rows and rows of Japanese food on display!

Japanese Food Frenzy

Shane and I go on a Japanese food frenzy; we go in different directions savoring with our eyes and noses all the food we want to eat. We see our favorite sushi and sashimi, bento sets, grilled eels, squids and clams. The Japanese food section has expended into a bigger area carrying so many more varieties of food and snacks. And the prices!!! They are a bargain compare to what we pay in the United States. We have to take photos and a video to send to our children back home because they love Japanese food as well. The food court sushi quality is good.

We satisfy our Japanese food cravings for now. Lunch only costs us US$10 because we go for sashimi. You can get a standard sushi set for under US$3 if you skip the raw seafood items. Our Japanese food frenzy don’t just stop at lunch. We buy some home for my mom and sister’s family.
