KLCC just for Ice Kacang

KLCC just for Ice Kacang

Ice Kacang

Ice kacang or ABC (air batu campur – mixed shaved ice) is a very popular street food dessert in Malaysia. It is also commonly found in Singapore and Brunei. This thirst quenching concoction is made of shaved ice with fillings of red beans, jelly, cincau (grass jelly) then topped with generous amount of sweet syrup (red), brown sugar syrup and condensed milk. Roasted ground peanuts and creamy sweet corn complete this assemble. This popular dessert has a humble beginning of using a hand cranked ice shaving machine. The shaved ice is gently compressed into an ice ball and doused with sugar syrup. Today’s version has many delicious varieties and available in restaurants and shopping malls.

KLCC just for Ice Kacang

I have been craving for ice kacang while in the US. Thankfully a Malaysian friend living nearby held a party and we had it for dessert! Today, we are going to KLCC just for ice kacang. The dessert stall “Fresh Delights” is located in the Signature Food Court of Suria KLCC on the second level. I am so happy this stall stood strong amidst the many lock downs imposed on the country due to Covid-19. There are a few restaurants there that I frequented when I was living in Kuala Lumpur. There are many more restaurants that are new to me but “Fresh Delights” is my main focus today.

Ambiance and Location

Many has asked why I would go all the way to KLCC just for ice kacang. The answer is simple – the ambiance and location. I am sure there are many restaurants serving better ice kacang. For me, enjoying this local dessert means more to me that just satisfying my craving. I used to go up to this floor on our beautiful Twin Towers and sat on the table by the window. It overlooks the beautiful fountains and garden. I people watch and enjoy the dessert at my own pace. I eat in silence and for a while able to escape the stress of every day life; thankful I was able to do this. Today I am all by myself while Shane walks around killing time, giving me the opportunity to enjoy this moment.
