View moreWe build up the excitement of a treasure hunt by sending an invite letter. On the Treasure Hunt Day, Kiel listens to grandpa's instructions via my phone and with map in hand, he has to bring his 2 year old brother along. They spend about an hour hunting for treasures and more hours playing with new toys. Game teaches listening skill and patience in a fun way.
View moreA unique hiking trip to Bayocean. A once popular resort town on the Oregon Coast now reclaimed by the sea. There is little left of what was once envisioned as the Atlantic City of the West. Nature has taken over. The trail we take are filled with blooming yellow scotch broom flowers. We climb on the sand dunes to get down to the beach.
View moreStayover at grandparents' house for Kiel means he gets exclusive attention from us. The weather has been good so we have many fun outdoor activities for a 5 year old boy to do. This time the main highlight is riding the big bicycle up and down the street. Then it's more games with grandpa and gramma to his heart's content.
View moreIdaho State is well known for its mountainous landscapes, swaths of protected wilderness, lakes, outdoor recreation areas and potatoes. It has also many mining towns that are now abandoned and became ghost towns. We visited two on the Idaho panhandle today; Frisco and Burke which were once boom towns for lead, silver and zinc.
View moreA trip to Swiss Garden Resort Kuantan, Pahang gave us a once in a lifetime fishing experience with the local fishermen. They were amazing hardworking people and the community spirit in still prevalent amongst villagers. We ate giant freshly caught prawns cooked for us by one of the men. A wonderful experience we want to repeat one day.
View moreAngkor Wat is the main reason we visit Cambodia. The Angkor Wat is the largest of all temples in the Angkor Archaeological Park. These historical sites are so vast, we only managed to cover a portion of them in a day. If you have watched Tomb Raider movie, Ta Prohm is where the filming took place and is one of the most visited temple here.
View moreBorneo, rainforest, Kuching, Sarawak – these are the words that come to mind when Shane suggests a jungle trekking adventure. I'm a scaredy cat, afraid of leeches, snakes and tigers. What I brought back from this trip are great memories, triumphant moment and amazing food experience. Rich culture diversities, friendly people, good ambience.
View moreMore insights into the homeless population in Kuala Lumpur. Shane and I took to the streets with another Kechara Soup Kitchen group of volunteers and distributed food to them. It's disheartening to witness how employers treat their foreign workers, limiting them to staying out in the open not by choice.
View moreBatu Caves, located in Gombak, Selangor, Malaysia is a limestone hill that has a series of caves with Hindu temples in them. It is popular with thousands of Hindu worshippers and tourists alike. I have been raving to Shane about the wild monkeys there and was excited to show him the culture and wildlife.
