Idaho State is well known for its mountainous landscapes, swaths of protected wilderness, lakes, outdoor recreation areas and potatoes. It has also many mining towns that are now abandoned and became ghost towns. We visited two on the Idaho panhandle today; Frisco and Burke which were once boom towns for lead, silver and zinc.

What an amazing place and history. He introduced us to his family members who are generations of wood carving artists. What a great opportunity to experience all these.

View moreOur 7 days trip to Siem Reap, Cambodia is divided into 2 posts; this one talks about applying for a tourist visa, hotel stay and transport, our first impressions and visit to a wet market. We meet many Cambodians along our walks to Pub Street, the main tourist area. We are cautious about our food but make one disastrous mistake.
View moreA day trip to Pulau Ketam or Crab Island in English. We took a ferry ride and explore the island on an electric motorbike. Wooden houses are perched on wooden stilts. It is nerve wrecking for me but fun for Shane when we ride through concrete pavements and old rickety wooden plank bridges. Unique sights mixed with the occasional stench.
View moreManito Park Japanese Garden in Spokane, WA is known as the the Nishinomiya Tsutakawa Japanese Garden. It is a place of beauty and tranquility. Fall is our favorite time of the year to visit this garden because the trees are in beautiful shades of warm colors. View moreApple picking day for the family at Green Bluff, Washington. It's our grandson first visit and he enjoys the tractor ride to the orchard. This bundle of energy is everywhere, picking apples, riding on a wheelbarrow and making daddy chase him. The petting zoo and play area gets his attention too and we love to watch the joy on his face.
